The novel " The farming of Bones” by Edwidge Danticat is known as a fictional tale based on real events in the Haitian massacre. This story depicts a really intense picture of how the conditions of living as a Haitian in the Dominican Republic were terrifying. Those who lived through the Haitian massacre paved better methods for future generations so they could have better and more comfy lives. The majority of Haitians crossed the border from Haiti to the Dominican Republic to find better lives and gain a source of income to support their own families. The Haitians thought that the Dominican Republic would be their way out of misery and poverty being unsure of that they were walking in a situation more serious than the kinds that they had been running far from. The conditions the Haitians experienced in the Dominican Republic had been very harsh and vicious. The Haitian men started to be mill workers-planting and cropping sugar canes- and their ladies became maids in homes of the Dominicans. Amabelle the young woman that was found nearby the banks of the river –where her parents drowned- was obviously a Haitian house maid for a Dominican house keep "... we all went to the river and there you were…(91)” Senora Valencia was the daughter to the ex-militant, Wear Ignacio.
